Architectural Synaesthesia - Prof. M. Schaut and Prof. D. Bucsescu

i'm sure you've looked at picasso and how he used the canvas to emphasize space between objects, which he felt was more important than the objects themselves. in music, miles davis felt the same way, describing the most important part of his solos as the empty space between notes, the "air" placed between notes. He knew exactly where to place notes, and his genius is in allowing the listener time to anticipate the next note.

Kind of Blue (1959) is a really good example of this
